What kind of electronic wire is this?

My dad for most of his career worked as a telecommunications network engineer with HP for 30+ years. He also did robotics and liked building his own computers (his last project he was building and programming a computer to control his Lego's Mindstorms). He died 6 years ago and I'm still trying to figure out much of the electronic supplies he owned. I'm very curious about this box of wiring he had. At least I think it's wiring. Everyone I've asked thinks it's fiber optics but I'm not so sure.

I've tried to find this wire and cable company but haven't had any luck and the phone number is no longer in service. Thank you for your help.

These are called "pig tails". When (especially several years ago) when producing (manufacturing) electronic equipment it was common to have pre-cut and stripped wires available to those actually assembling the equipment. I notice that the stripped ends were dipped into hot solder (tinned) to make it easier for the assembler to install the wires, wrap them and then solder the connection. The ends are deliberately left on the long side and cut after being connected and soldered.

Even today when everything is on a PC board this method is used.
